Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026 · Applies to the Triploom mobile application
Triploom is a group travel coordination app. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is handled. We keep this as simple and transparent as possible.
1. What data we collect
When you use Triploom, we may collect the following:
- Account information — your name and email address, used to create and identify your account.
- Profile picture — an optional photo you choose to upload.
- Messages — text messages and images you send within trip chat rooms.
- Location — only when you actively choose to share your location in a chat. We do not collect location data in the background.
- Photos — images you capture or select when adding them to events or chat messages.
- Trip content — events, tasks, and responses you create or submit within a trip.
- Device push token — to send you notifications from trips you are part of.
2. Why we collect it
All data collected is used solely to provide the Triploom service:
- To let you create and manage group trips with others.
- To enable real-time chat and location sharing between travel companions.
- To coordinate shared events and tasks within a trip.
- To send push notifications for messages, announcements, and task reminders.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the service.
3. Who can see your data
Your data is only visible to other members of the same trip:
- Your name, profile picture, and role are visible to everyone in a trip you join.
- Messages and shared locations are visible to all participants in the relevant chat room.
- Task responses are visible to the trip organiser.
- No data is shared with other users outside of your trips, and no data is sold to third parties.
4. Third-party services
Triploom uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Your account credentials and all trip data are stored on Supabase infrastructure. See supabase.com/privacy.
- Expo / Expo Push — used to deliver push notifications to your device. See expo.dev/privacy.
- Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — used for address search when adding event locations. No personal data is attached to these requests. See osmfoundation.org.
- Maileroo — used to send email attachments such as exported task spreadsheets. Only your registered email address is used for this purpose.
5. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you leave a trip, your messages and responses remain visible to other participants unless you request deletion. We do not automatically delete data when a trip ends.
6. Deleting your data
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at triploomapp@gmail.com. We will process your request within 30 days. Note that content shared with other users (such as chat messages) may remain visible to them until it is also removed.
7. Children
Triploom is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
